About this mess
I must address
My sorrow and transgression
The resolve to write
About said plight
This mayhem wreaks oppression
We’ve fought this war
Numerous times before
Our soldiers, bold and strong
We remember well
That alarming bell
The sound… our Siren’s song
Such dreadful thoughts
Of long farewells
Our tearful pained goodbyes
Make love once more
On this eve of war
Before our battle cries
