To My Aunt Poem by Danny Taylor

To My Aunt

An unmistakable laugh
An irreplaceable voice that echoed through the house
Remembering movies watched and late night snacks

Mall trips for toys
Ice cream eaten

Sleepovers at her house on the most comfortable couch on earth
Birthday parties
Christmas dinners
A swig of diet pop from the cup that was always with her

Now she is gone…
No more will she laugh in front of me
But above me now she can watch

I pray that she finds peace
I pray she rests comfortably

I can never forget, but I must let go
With hope that one day I will see her again

But until we met again she will forever remain
In my thoughts
And in my heart
