To My Wife Poem by Vasile Serban

To My Wife

The immense feeling of joy that overwhelms me when I see you
Awakens my senses, dancing to a more than pleasant music
And I indulge in your kisses that tickle my self-love
With an intensity that makes me tremble with pleasure.

I watch the death of stars with the fear of you not waking up at the sound of their fall
And I endure my sleepless nights just to gaze at your peaceful face while you sleep,
I see your soothing sleep as the very oasis in my desert of mortality,
And the night's weariness fades away at the sight of your charming smile.

I await the mornings saddened by the thought that you will be stolen by the day's worries,
And I will lie again, enclosed in a corner of your heart.
Yet, I am kept alive by the trace of your steps on the carpet of my heart
And the elegance with which you embrace me every time.

Pleasure shivers run through me at the thought of our daily reunion
And as I wait for you, I place my words of love in my mind,
And from the tenderness of a man who seems to have just fallen in love
I write a poem that I dedicate to you, my wife.
