To The God Of Hills, Forests & Straying Livestocks Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

To The God Of Hills, Forests & Straying Livestocks

Call him Vana-devata, Jungle-devata,
Yaksharaj, Khet-khalihan-devata
Of the hills,
God of Forests, Hills,
Awesome Spirit, God of Fields & Fallows,
Sanyasi Baba, Sadhu Baba,
A saint Austro-Asiatic, Primitive Spirit,
Whatever you like to call him, call,
The Keeper of the Livestock, the Guardian of Forests & Hills,
Who is it to safeguard, hear in the dense wild
Away from human haunt,
The Guardian Spirit, the Shepherd of Shepherds,
The Forester of Foresters, the Hillsman Supernatural,
I pray to you, pray to you
Seeking your blessing and clemency.
