To Those Who Never Listen Poem by Michael Staples

To Those Who Never Listen

I regret the time it happened,
I regret it ever so,
For you never had it coming,
It should've been me too go.

I regret ever looking down,
I wish I couldn't see,
The blood that lies around you,
When non of it comes from me.

I regret causing the faces,
The sobs and cries in vain,
It was all my actions,
Yet they're the ones in pain.

I regret my dumb decision,
For if I had thought twice,
You wouldn't by lying, on the floor,
Paying my painful price.

I regret I couldn't give you,
At least one final good-bye,
When all in all, it should've been me,
It should've been me to die.

I regret I never listened,
For now that I have learned,
What happens when you drink and drive,
It's the others, that get burned.
