To Want You Poem by Alexis Middleton

To Want You

to want you is..

uncouth, rough, .............wanton and wanting

desire, passion, obsession...............

of delirium, cold sweats and night nurses....................

of nurturing, heaving and heavy hearts

pendulums, steady motions, rhythmic and intuitive

of time and space and vastness, of curvature and the undoubtedly straight line

of morality, of forbidden kisses, of secret conclaves in the night that shed so much light as the day..................

of................... good humor, subtlety, passing whispers, dark corners. late night musings and the stranger with an unfamiliar rapping at your door.............

fluid motions. sweepings. of plunder and subsequent conquest, of denying and forsaking, of trust lost, of Lothario and Romeo and that famous Don Juan. of lamps lit a little in the dark, but waning and snuffed only to delve and partake again

a secret lover of whom?

uhm.......................of first days and chance encounters, of past teachings forgotten, of plunging into uncharted waters, having full wisdom and knowledge but using impractical doctrine, of loving this one being my new religion.
