To What End? Poem by Marbet Daniel

To What End?

Its been over three years into the
relationship
the flame of love still shines
bright,
but not brighter.
He fears so much to lose her,
that love is no longer the
guardian of the relationship,
but threats and muscle power.
Her golden years are passing day
after day
and her fear, if she breaks out?
Her petals will no longer be
attractive enough.
So in love and fear they co-exist.
Fear slowly overcomes love,
words of romance superficialy
linger in their lips.
Now she cant talk to other men...
Its prohibited.
He is now psychopathic,
and for the fear of her life,
she silently bows...
To what end? I ask.
