I listen.
I listen in a crowd of beings-
many talk-many sing.
But until the light fades to darkness.
I will listen. Like a dream.
For the racket in the corridors.
cause many to walk and stay.
As they commingle back and forth.
I walk briskly by.
Until someone calls my name-
I will listen for that cry.
Many like me-
But few know me.
As do I unto them.
For many talk-
Many listen.
But not as well as thee.
I wait for the tragic time.
when darkness turns to light.
For when it comes I will wake.
Only to stand idle, like a statue.
I can not talk- can not sing.
For I’ve forgotten how.
Many words- many stories.
I’ve listened to.
For that is all I do.
