To Whom This May Concern. Poem by Lauren Harper

To Whom This May Concern.

To whom this may concern.
I appreciate you.
I am thankful for the roof over my head.
For the homemade meals, and the shopping trips.
For the hours spent awake when I should have been in bed.
But instead, you though it better to yell in my face. To scream. To blame.
Don't forget traces of 'LSU' on my breasts.
Hours spent crying I won't forget.
No, really. Thank you.
Instead of believing in myself, there you were at my throat.
After all I suppose I am worthless.
Really, thank you darling.
After all who in their right mind could honestly care for me.
