Together Poem by Claire Boyle

Together

I am in you and you are in me.

Today, a llittle of me has died.
There is a hollow in me where once you sat
I turn to you with my thoughts and questions
I want to tell you of my loss
But you do not answer
Because now you are not with me.

I see you on the corner of the street,
I hear you in the step of a stranger on the pavement,
I smell your perfume in the wake of another
I taste alone the food we once shared
And touch alone the fabric of our lives
Because now I am not with you.

But, for you I can carry on.
I can keep alive your bright spirit
For I know what you would have said,
How you would have looked and sounded,
I can remember your touch and smell
I can still hear your laughter.

I recall what we shared
And I pour my memories into the hollow you left
And I am again proud to be with you,
For though I am gone with you, you also are alive in me.
I am in you and you are in me
And so we go on, together.

Love everlasting and evermore. What an affectionate write, spilling over with the sadness of a separated soul. Keep for all time, that love, that time cannot threaten with tarnish. Beautifully crafted. PEACE
