Tomorrow Poem by Precious Okidika

Tomorrow

Here comes Tomorrow,
A sudden stranger to our town.
Though for long we knew him nigh,
Yet he comes to us too soon.
We saw him crawling near,
A mistful figure from afar,
We saw him crawling near
And thought him yet still far.
We were readied for him.
A thing he judged us not so.
For now that he is here,
We meet him unprepared.
The future for which we toiled,
Stretches his hand to embrace us,
Yet now that he is here,
We meet him unprepared.
So we rush, abrupt and in haste,
To tie the remainder of our rope.
To save the remainder of our hope.
Tomorrow always comes too soon.
For though, for years we may toil,
When tomorrow does come,
We always meet him unprepared.
