Tonight Poem by darren thomas

Tonight

The sky is liquorice black
its stars are simply stars
its air as cold as it’s over

but there was a time
when we poked our joined fingers
into the chest of a great bear
and it roared in its own delight
and our moon, our beautiful friend of a moon
wasn’t there to see it.
