Tonight The Night Was Long
Night filled all the windows
While still a long way off
Morning was somewhere in the distance
Trying to find its way to my home
Occasionally I would glance outside
To see if there was a glimmer
Or a hint of light on the horizon
But tonight, the night was long
As I stretched out on my couch
Trying to fall back to sleep
You suddenly came to mind
Without rhyme or reason
I pictured you here beside me
I remembered you once told me
How you used to play piano
And somewhere in my need for sleep
And my struggle to think of you
I wished
I wished
I wished
I could hear you play
