Too Distracted Poem by Jennifer Woodland

Too Distracted

My nights are sleepless
Days too busy to think
I have always cared
Though you have not
Our moments together
Have become awkward distant
We are our own kryptonite
The mind does not rest
My heart only aches
Every time we get close
Past actions cloud the air
Choking out the present
Your voice calms me
Eyes melt me
I forget to stand when you smile
Sleepless nights
Distracted days
That’s all you’ve given me
