Too Soon Poem by Eric Zinbabora Batung

Too Soon

Many have come.
Many more have gone.
So soon it is here.
The announcer has sounded the drum,
Its sound like the big jungle drum.
Even the sly one has shown up,
With tears in his eyeballs.
'Why oh why' shall be my goodbye words.

Hearts shall bleed with tears of joy.
The last line of the Lord's prayer shall be my portion.
Over there stand the unveiled eyes,
Shedding tears saved for centuries.
They are the hearts that did exude some love.
To them I will sing my love songs in the next world,
with tears running down my cheeks.
Could this be my departure?
Too soon, too soon it has come.
