Too Tongue Tied Poem by Ragy Sandid

Too Tongue Tied

Too tongue tied
To say how much I love you
You and I tried
Trying just won't do

Neither one chose
To be in the other's life
Yet people look up close
The truth beat the lies

You throw hurt like dirt
Of boys in a schoolyard
Yet it with love's essence you flirt
You have our vision marred

We expect that one of us
Will be the bigger person
Love just doesn't come with trust
Trust is what we rehearse on

You cry out for help
And I cry out too
We want to take the healthy step
Hesitate in love is taboo

You let out the words
I tie them to the tongue
Love's rant in just absurd
When one is old and the other young

Live well and prosper
A cliché of old that works for me
After all, when you prosper
You'll have set my spirit free
