Torn Poem by Koketso Nonyane

Torn

With her clothes torn,
And the rapist gone
With blood scattered on the ground
In a place where she's nowhere to be found
The little girl seeks hope

Nobody heard her scream,
Weakened by the fists of the man
In the middle of the night
Tears on her face making her lose sight

There never will be another day so cold
For that girl, whose 13 years old
And raped by her uncle
Endlessly, as though she were an animal in the jungle

It happened to her, just as it happened to her mama
Mother and child, having experienced the same trauma
Whilst not many seem to care
The young girl hopes her experiences might disappear
