Torn Poem by Helen Crutchett

Torn

The dishes need doing, not to mention the floors.
Oh, hang it all darling, I do hate those chores.

I have an urge to write, my thoughts take flight...
That grubby stove needs cleaning, it's such a sight!

Those grimy old windows sure need attention
will they see the light of day, before I'm on the pension?

'Writings a waste of time', my hubby says to me,
'Why don't you get a job or go and cook the tea! '

But the words need expressing and I'm not jesting
by hook or by crook, I'll write before I'm resting.

The day has now fled, the children in bed
but the thoughts have gone out of my head.

As Scarlet said, 'Tomorrow is another day'
Maybe then I'll have something to say! ~
