Toxic Mediterranean Poem by Divine Mbutoh

Toxic Mediterranean

I had thought these ears were a slumber,
Dozing in the nightmare of civil villainy
Yesterday laughter dwelled in the laps of
Forgotten Persian ceramics and coiled
In the quiet hands of harmony_
Then the epidemic came sailing in the vile
Westerly winds.
The bees inhaled the itchy dust from the
Warm deserts of Benghazi and took the sharp
Pincers from the locusts,
They rose like Egyptian Mummies amid sheen
Ancient Ceramics eating everything to its
Toes.
Loo! The locust came zooming in the caresses
Of a forlorn air...drizzles of pollutants
Showering the bees like fishes in the Mediterranean!
Quick children, feeble immature stems of
Helpless kids dwindling in a sea of toxicity
Oh Prophet Owen calouse minds got no minds
For history_
