Tradition, Duty And Honor Poem by Kevin Patrick

Tradition, Duty And Honor

Rating: 5.0

Where in the world would we all be
without tradition, duty and honor
oh where in the world would we be
without being bound to societies collar

tradition is being gaslit
to a dead mans superstition
and crippling our faculties
by maiming our decisions

Duty is social conditioned
to serve like a dog on a leash
at the self worth of ones expense
til our lives are far from reach

Honor is just a pretty word
to describe a fragile ego
to hide the savage from the genteel
when the latter's a shallow placebo

Where in the world would we all be
without tradition, duty and honor
oh where in the world would we be
perhaps free of mans arrogance and squalor

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A perceptive poem well presented and expressed. A reader could relate and ponder about the thoughts you stressed about duty, honor and tradition. So true, they are some of the factors that greatly affect our decisions in life.
