Traveler Poem by Didan Odongo

Traveler

I am a traveler
Not by train or by bus
but in hallucinations and imaginations
My mind always seems to be far
Far from the reality of life

I want to run away
to a place of rest
A way from pain
and sorrows of this world

Away from heart breaks
and hypocritical relationships
A way from this world
to a solitary place of silence

I want to die and
travel without saying goodbye
I want to close my eyes
from the light that blinded my sight

I want to shut my voice
from friends and foes
and never again
will you hear my noise

Family and friends will cry
but just for a moment of time.
After that they will wish me goodbye
while celebrating my life

It's just for a while
and smiles will be back in their eyes
I will be erased from their minds
a memory never to be remembered

Away from the world
away from their minds
Good bye my love
my friend my life
