Travelling Alone Poem by annette banham

Travelling Alone

Rating: 5.0

I like to travel on my own
with passport and my camera phone
To countries I have never been
and hidden places yet unseen

I like to explore the world's scenery
and follow my own itinerary
I won't be told where not to go
by some unadventurous so and so

No-one to drag me by the hand
and lead me from the route I'd planned
Or, if I choose an unbeaten track
there'll be no one there to hold me back

No-one to tell me what not to sup
or, that my body should be covered up
and not wear clothes that are revealing
even if the heat I'm feeling

So, with no-one to nag me on what to wear
and how much skin I shouldn't bare
I can get on and do my own thing
be it cycling, hiking or sunbathing

And when I'm by the pool reposing
it'll be with most my flesh exposing
Wearing just a slight bikini
and supping a nice ice cold martini
