Tribute To Mercedes Sosa Poem by Pedro Cescon

Tribute To Mercedes Sosa

(To 'La Negra')

The tears I pour,
Are all for 'The Black',
For world turned sour,
When she ended her track,

The tears staining the paper,
Hit these words that are not worth,
For any word meant to praise will only taper
The magnificence of this true daughter of Earth,

The voice of the voiceless,
Whose heart wouldn't fit the chest,
Being big making chest spaceless,
Big enough to get gods impressed,

Woman deserving to live and love,
Like Maria and any other around,
A person that reached above,
And got a voice quite renowned,

And in this humble tribute,
I'll go all the way inverse,
And execute the permute,
Of not rhyming at my last verse
For no rhyme would manage to impute,
That pain of seeing Mercedes' herse,

From a humble and small young man
To the goddess 'La Negra'
