Tribute To Warrior Poem by Milo Lone Elk

Tribute To Warrior

This tribute to the warrior
Like a salute in arms
His time has come
A brilliant lighting to our hearts
This day that light suppose to fade away
It chimes in my hand
How cold they are
Gripping with nervous and pain
As tears fall from the stars
I take a second to see
The preacher in his robes
Matching the blackness of our coats
Slowly he makes his way
To the front of the crowd
Nothing to say
We bow our heads, and pray to the clouds
We fall from the warriors glory
We hid our defeat
That he is gone from us
That this coffin reflects the loss at our feet
What a mess
That our hopes and dreams were with him
When that bullet pierced through his chest
As he is lowered to the depths of the ground
We remembered that we were once tall
At the height of our dreams until he was shot to the ground
This tribute to the warrior
It can not silence the brave
With years to unfold
It heeds our hearts today
That we will not back down
Nor shame in defeat
That this is our calling
To go unquiet in the night
So as we rise above ourselves
In the moment of the warrior
We glanced back to see
That we are warriors ourselves
Just waiting for a war to be
