Trip To Lithiumland Poem by Juana Cruz

Trip To Lithiumland

Who sopped up my tears before
when I cried alone
when I dared show no one
ThatI'd rather groan
than show the world
the woman I had become.

Who loved me before
When they saw me fall
And witnessed the insanity
my life had become
contempt is all I hear,
No one dares come near.

And I am here
ensconced
in a new place
still I'm far from Elyseum
Upturning my cup of lithium
Yet my state remains unchanged.

Pain is pain.
It lingers till after forever
But meanwhile you...
You sop my tears
And hold me.
And I can sleep
Warm in your arms
I sleep.
