Trip Wire Poem by Avernus Sans Pitie

Trip Wire

Back alleys where lost souls wander,
A dirty beard and eyes of thunder,
A beer can in hand and full of rage,
On a mission to set the stage.
Under neon lights despair holds sway,
Corners the stranger who would steal her away.
Fear's a whisper when love's in the air,
Bullets could fly as he just doesn't care.
Shadows of a long dead love,
Haunting nights like stars up above.
Echoes of an empty room,
Wandering the Earth, feel your doom.
Cash registers sing songs of regret,
In small towns dreams forget.
Years roll down dusty streets,
Counting change never skipping beats.
Daughter unearths what was buried deep;
Losing her job would make her weep
Insurance papers tell stories untold,
What once could have been gold
Nothing is left, passion's gone cold
Writes ballads from shadows past,
A note a prayer won't come fast.
Shadows of a forgotten love,
Haunting nights like stars above.
Just echoes in an empty room,
Wandering the Earth I feel your doom.
Cash registers sing songs of regret,
This small town dreams forget.
Time draws lines across our faces
Danced with fate in the wrong places.
Sudden loses cause instant despair
She wipes away tears tangled in hair.
Echoes of a forgotten love,
Haunting like stars the above.
Echoes in an empty room,
Every moment you feel your doom.
Cash registers sing songs of regret,
In small towns where dreams forget.
Strum these chords they'll fade away
All that we were and all we betray.
Long as music's under moonlit skies,
Remembered until darkness replies...
