True - Poem by Joy Davis

I don't want a kiss
nor your love or your lies
that little sappy look
in your shaded eyes.

You want something
you have to show me
i don't want any corny jokes
or anything not meant to be.

I don't want your hand
some things just aren't meant
to be loved or held
do nothing to cause me to tempt.

Look into my eyes
tell me you’re really true
do not lie to me
or else we’re through.

Give me your word
give me your heart
tell me you love me
that we’ll never be apart.
