True Friends Poem by Tessa Marsland Pettigrove

True Friends

Watching you fade away,
I see the way you are,
it is something that happens everyday.
it's like one jelly bean in one big jar.

I can see your heart is broken,
turned to grey,
so many words that are unspoken.
we just play it day by day.

Your smile,
is all I used to see.
it was just like you always on your mobile.
I miss the way things used to be.

Living life is about having fun,
enjoying every minute of it,
whilst you live your life on the run.
just loving every bit.
Cannot help to see,
Those sunny days
and what it really means to me,
remembering those times always.
Surrounded by friends,
relaxing whilst we can.
Growing old together,
Living one day to another.
Thinking of how life is meant to be,
we realise it's meant for us to see.
Too hard to explain,
while a friend is in pain.
Friends and family will be for life,
throughout life and death,
we'll live on and treasure our lives as one :)
