Trust Me Poem by Charley Staines

Trust Me

Hands were shaking, knees were weak,
I could've fallen at any moment,
But I stood rigid. Staring,
Directly into her eyes, as she spoke,
Her words washed over me,
Neither hearing nor believing,
She spoke sincerity, but her eyes leaked deception,
Predictable, yet a true mystery,
Frozen, I contemplated,
Truth or lie, truth or lie,
Foolish or wise, foolish or wise,
A tear now rolls from my eyes,
An echo in my head torments me,
When I recall the last words she said to me,
You have to trust me.
Trust me.
Trust me.
Now turning my face away,
I try to deny, what I let happen that day.
