Truth Poem by Philip Emmanuel Penaflor

I asked truth what is the most important thing in life.
"Freedom", she said immediately without batting an eye.
"Isn't it love, or happiness perhaps? ", I suggested to her.
"Love and happiness are fruits of freedom, for you cannot
love if you are not truly free to love, neither could you find
happiness if you have no freedom. All starts with freedom.
You may not claim to be learned and you could be a pauper
yet you have everything you need to be happy if you are free."

"How can I become free? "again I asked truth. And she said:

"If you can look people into their eyes and are not afraid of
what they may find in your heart, then you are truly free! "
