Truth Poem by CHIOMA ONYEKABA

Truth

If we perish
Then Yes we Perish
If our perishing last Words
Remains the striking sword

Words of truth
As deep as roots
Piercing hearts of stone
Breaking all their bones
Raising dust and fear
A fact they try not dare.

Words with no hands
Yet striking beyond doubt
Justice it hopes to serve
For those who truly does deserve

Words so divine
True talks that never lie
They want a closed mouth
That ensures your destiny is locked out
They hate an open mouth
That lets that destiny out

Destroyers of open mouth
Yet lovers of open hearts
Who is fooling who?
Just choose between the two

Words so divine
Scarcest in our time
Words so pure
Firm and so secure
Words so deep
Everyone can feel

Even when all resists
Truth remains the key
That opens every deed
And sets the captives free
