I try too hard
I run too fast
how could i know what i would be
i never knew it would not last
i spent my life atop the world
one step away from second best
i lied and cheated, stole and fought
to win the race my only thought
I never saw my self in truth
my clenched fists, my tangled hair
and in the end when i had won
i found another race to run
and now the end of life is near
i stop and think of ages past
I was a monster, ruined lives
and now i know i came in last
for winning is not everything
i heard a million times
and now ive won i know its true
i tried too hard to win
i tried too hard
i ran too fast
i never knew it wouldnt last
and now i die my life undone,
my heart long dead from hate
i pray to god should he exist
you will not meet my fate
