Trying To Start Over Poem by Sara Panicali

I moved to Lubbock
after everything that happened
not because I wanted to
but so I can try and start all over
you ask if I like it
and how things are going
I tell you I'm going to school
and working full time
then you tell me
about coming home,
and how there are so many things out here
I can do

Because one does things
and acts like they are happy
or seems like they're doing good
doesn't mean it's something they want to do

I moved Lubbock

that might help me from going insane
you tell me it was my choice to leave
that I can always come back
but it will just be the same
the daily routine,
same people,
same places,
everything like it was before
but with out you in my life
I know if I come back
I will definitely lose my mind
maybe it's best I stay in Lubbock
