Tuna Salad Sandwich Poem by Ralph Moritz

Tuna Salad Sandwich

This is what I wanted
A tuna salad sandwich
With creamy mayo,
Sweet green pickles,
Red tangy onions,
Crunchy celery and
Crumbled hard-boiled egg;
Mixed with poignant memories
Of steamy summer days long ago.
I remember the laughter, the tears,
The bloody noses and taunting jeers;
How I played stick ball into the fading light.
Until I heard my mother's distant cry;
"Its' time to come in-
Its' time for it to end."
