I'm turning my back on love;
This time we're through.
I'm turning my back on love
And that means you!
I'm leaving the darkness,
Walking into the light.
I'm turning my back on love
Cos love ain't right.
I'm turning my back on dreams that don't come true
It's the skies above not me that should be blue.
I'm turning my back on love's pretentious lie
Cos all I've learned from love is how to cry.
Yeah, love is a universal lie
That leads you on and makes you high
A metaphysical fix that fizzles out.
The more you have, the more you need,
It feeds itself on pride and greed,
Pretending it's the answer to your prayers.
It rules your heart and fools your mind,
Restricts your vision, so you're blind,
A jumped up despot giving its self airs.
Yeah love is a pack of selfish lies
That's fooled us all, but I got wise,
I called its bluff and justified my doubt.
I'm breaking the chains that tied my life to you,
I'm leaving the scene of all the hurt I knew.
I'm hitting the road, kicking the habit too.
I'm turning my back on love and high time too!
I'm turning my back on that tyrant and its lies
Love cut me up I'll cut it down to size.
