Twilight Haiku Poem by Fiona Schwartzinoff

Twilight Haiku

Rating: 3.7

Heat gathers and bursts
on the horizon’s crown,
Flinging a handful of gold
into the bare hands
of the clouds.

They sink low
into the coolness of twilight.
Stars shyly peep their shining heads
From behind the skies’ curtains.

Mother Moon...
Her pale, round face,
Like a glass of sweet milk,
Invites them.

The little stars...
They sparkle now;
Newly found and cleaned diamonds.
They sew themselves comfortably
Into the violet satin
Of fading, fading, light.

The wispy clouds drift
And fade
Lazily,
Like puffed-up aristocrats
on parade.

And Night...
He comes
And secretly kisses the heavens
With sweet darkness.
