Two Friends Chatting

With Christ my God I’m talking now
Not speaking on my own
Just sitting here no need to bow
As though it were the phone

We often sit and chew the fat
We each have much to say
We reminisce on this and that
And what we’ve done that day

Explaining just the other night
How I should sing my song
He spoke of Truth and Heaven’s Light
And how I get things wrong

We laugh sometimes and often smile
Sometimes I hear Him sigh
Occasionally though we pause a while
When I just sit and cry

I oft recall just sitting still
Beside His hallowed feet
He talks about His Father’s will
That’s soon to be complete

Not everything I understand
Not everything’s made clear
But knowing all is in His hand
I have no need to fear

It’s great to hear Him talking though
On such a range of themes
How quick the time just seems to flow
Discussing plans and dreams

Its hard to wait until tonight
Until I’m home in bed
Tomorrow yet again I’ll write
About the things He’s said
