Two Minds Poem by Jason Pack

Two Minds

Poison is your treat,
Sour but so sweet.
Flame that fires gold,
Burns but feels so cold.

Sadness strikes like death,
Banished by your breath.
Voice so soft and kind,
Consuming my mind.

Your eyes betray your mouth,
Though it smiles, they still pout.
You cannot lie to me,
It's not your blood to bleed.

How much longer must I waste away?
What more, heartfelt, must I say?
Tears of falling, crystal pain,
Falling on my windowpane.

Even the stars, burning bright,
Will soon pass on, into the night.
Their light is gone, the blaze burned out,
Leaving behind an empty clout.

Is this how the angels cry?
Is this how the demons die?
It strikes me down through my bones,
Frees me up from all my woes.

Voice of sweetness,
Eyes of sadness.
Heart of bleakness,
Flows of gladness.

In my fledgling final woes,
Throwing me from my repose.
Waking up my slumb'ring mind,
Sharpening with no stonegrind.

Carry on, carry on,
Blessings come, blessings gone.
Do not fear the winding path,
Through the heart of my aftermath.

Two minds of the same heart,
Two works of the same art.
Beauty within still untold,
Beautiful sin, beautiful soul.
