Two Spheres Poem by Joseph D E Phillips

Two Spheres

Sphere
Sphere of blackness draws everything closer.
Even light itself cannot escape.
Time stops within.
All my moments converge within.
My birth and death converge within.
My life is all at once
Beauty and horror
As you ruin me.

Sphere
Globe of oceans and green land.
Sustain me.

I am you and you are me:

I drink you and eat you.
I care for you and love you.
I kiss you and hold you
at night under blue and green blankets.
I hold your hand in the fiery orange of dusk.
I cry tears of joy with you.
I cry tears of horror when parts of you,
parts of me
die.

I sing with you and laugh with you around the fire.

I make things out of you.
You make things out of me.

You are my life and I am your life.
I will be buried in you and become other parts of you
and the sun will bake each side of us
until the sphere of blackness
swallows us.

Time stops within.
My birth and death converge within.
I am forever.
I am earth.
I am matter.
I am light.
I am beginning.
I am end.
I am the green sphere and the black.
I am Saturn and Jupiter.
I am Venus and Mars.
I am the stuff of gods.
