Tying A Ribbon Around The Tree Of Adrianne (Unity, Strength, Courage) Poem by Justin Gildow

Tying A Ribbon Around The Tree Of Adrianne (Unity, Strength, Courage)

It's been a long way for me to travel
Hour upon hour
But I'm here
Here at last

As I walk
I go by what directions there are in my mind
A backpack is slung around my shoulders
Thinking of what I can do
Thinking of what my heart is telling me to do
Thinking of a way to send my wishes from my heart to you
Up in heaven

In heaven
I'm sure you're soaring gracefully Adrianne

Listening to a Smashing Pumpkins song
It definitely gets me in the mood for what I'm about to do

I finally arrive at your blessed tree
Ready to show some respect for you and your memory

So I set my backpack down
And pull out a pretty ribbon
I say a prayer
I cross my arms
My eyes burn intently
And my hands are nervous, but are strong

By your tree
There's a bronze plaque in memory to you Adrianne
I notice it and read it
It proclaims: Unity, Strength, Courage

At long last
I tie my ribbon around your tree Adrianne
And I look up at the sky
And I swear I can see you flying
As well as smiling down on me
