Tyranny Not To Be Proud Of - Poem by Shujaat Hussain

We dance by giving message of love to the world
But cyclonic hatred dances to the other side
Everest height of ego and arrogance
Ferocious sea waves of rancour
Vitiate humanistic showcase of India

Burn to ashes to the houses of the innocent
Silence is abode
Shrouded deep darkness
Under the sky
Tears in eyes
Sighs in breast

Tyrant celebrates festival
Enjoy with tears and sighs
And helplessness of the poor

While at places daggers
Stone, bomb and bullet
These are the gifts to the oppressed

Human beings look animals
In habits and characters
Oppressed restlessness
Tyrant’s happiness and laughter
Now such fear grips the abode
Death is certain
Tyranny not to be proud of

Would that weapon protect lives!
May arms of the tyrant become impotent!
Fire devour them
A man with human heart
Take birth from ashes
