UGLY
You are ugly
Have you never seen your face?
Do I need to give you a mirror?
Do I have to remind you of your blemishes?
The scars on your face when you fell from your bike
The pimples you popped whenever you were idle
The pores which oozed sweat whenever you ran
The skin which looked black when you stood under the sun
The cheeks which are too chubby for my taste
The jaw line which seems to appear only in your dreams
The teeth which always look crooked
The burns you got in the fire
The wrinkles you got on your first surgery
The line stretching from your brow to your mouth
When the rapist scarred you for life
You are ugly
Because you never apply makeup
To hide the signs of aging
Your fashion sense is in the dumps
So you are ugly
Inside out because you do not
Act like a girl
Like a woman supposed to attract men
You do not try to be flawless
For the people who don't matter
You don't look beautiful
You look like a worn out doll
The acid marks on your face are disgusting
When will you get plastic surgery?
Why are your eyes so small?
Why do you wear clothes which show your bulges?
Why are you so fat?
Why don't you exercise for people who don't matter?
Bleach a bit
Wax a bit
Thread a bit
Go under the knife
Get your act together
What are you doing with your life?
When your sole aim is to look better
For people who don't matter
For the people on the street, who ogle at you
For the billion males in this world
You have to look perfect
You have to be a diva
Have a size zero waist
But sorry, we prefer curvy over skinny
Where is your crash dieting?
Invite it over, you have put on weight
You look ugly
And even after a century you would be ugly
Because you are a woman
And women are ugly
So I prefer to be ugly
Than to be picture perfect
Because this ugly duckling who never turns into a swan
Shall rock this world
I am happy being ugly.
Are you?
This poem was a beautiful depiction of the troubles we women have to go through in our daily life. It was really touching.
Really a poignant rendition set aside for sober reflection. Thanks for sharing Anhad.

I had been waiting for someone to comment on the trials of looking perfect each day. The way it has been articulated is indeed amazing.
