Unadulterated Kindness Poem by Arthur H Rowley

Unadulterated Kindness

Whenever you think you have ended life as we know it
I can offer this:

although it has been a burden
and I have lost so much for loving so fiercely
know that when I hold it in my shaking hands and offer it to you
whether you accept it or not becomes irrelevant
turns to dust and swirls up into the distance
all that matters now is that you see it
in all its plentiful presence
that you know however cruel the world gets
and however angrily you decide to tell it such
that when you come home
the dust of my love will have settled on your driveway
and when you slip into bed that night
in your half lit room
try to notice the way the covers feel softer and your spot feels warm

and tucked in there next to you
just between the pillow and your duvet
barely in sight, lies my love
bundled up, unafraid
and so blindingly kind
