Unaltered Flirtations Poem by John Richey

Unaltered Flirtations

Words esacpe my lips unfiltered,
Coming straight from the core of my being...
Not edited in any way shape or form,
Dedicated only to you.
Only intended to be heard by your ears,
Feeling the rush of everything I wish to say...
Trying my best to release the flood gate slowly,
Letting it all out in the form of loving words.

Waiting for your response that will surely come,
Wondering if you disliked what I said.
Springing through my emotions in mere seconds,
Heart thundering loud in my ears,
Every sense becomes more alert by the second,
As I wait for what words you pick to say.

Defying my sore heart once again,
Knowing full well of what could be,
Yet worrying all the while.
Following my heart to the end.

Present progressive tense (plus many verbs) gives the sense of being continually pounded. Perhaps by the rush of everything you have to say? Not a topic I am overly keen on but that can't stop it from being a good poem. And as it is personal poetry, all that matters is what it means to you.
