Unavoidable Nuisance Poem by DOMINIC PREMPEH

Unavoidable Nuisance

I have seen life
And have narrowly missed death
Life exposed me to the double-standards of humans
And death exposed the hypocrisy of humans
We all battle, one way or the other
And we all envy, one way or the other
For none of us likes where we are
The story isn't any different here or there
For what we say about them is what they say about us
Who do we believe we are?
Scholars in the midst of family and friends!
They are nuisance, you might quote
But without them our scholarly is vain
And to us, that is their essence
Creating the irks and challenges that will urge us on
