Unconditional Love Poem by Dani Abstract

Unconditional Love

I hear you telling me you ready, but before we go
There are some things about me that I think you need to know
They are hidden deep beneath the surface not shown to the world
And it could make you change your mind once they start to unfurl
So tell me are you capable of giving me unconditional love
What will those words mean to you when life pulls the plug
On everything about me that you think make me shine
Will your unconditional love stand the test of time
Are you strong enough to battle when I take you to war
And you don't even know what we're fighting for
Will you trust that no matter what we can work this out
Or will you fall for the blows of anger and doubt
If I take off my clothes and your eyes are not pleased
Will your heart say I'm beautiful and adore what you see
See these words you're using they are so very subliminal
I need to know are you really ready for unconditional
If my thoughts don't line up with your own perspectives
Will our differences cause you to fill disconnected
Can you agree to disagree for the sake of peace
Before the monster of relentless pride is released
If I come with bags that I am not strong enough to hold
Will you sacrifice your comfort to lighten my load
See you may think you are ready but does your heart really know
What you are getting into, and do you really want to go
If life hits me so hard to the point that I am unable
To match the assets that you bring to the table
Will you carry me without feeling like I'm bring you down
Or what about if your friends stop coming around
Because they became jealous that you chose to be with me
Will you start feeling lonely or am I all that you need
Can we create a new life by walking down the narrow path
Or will you long for the things that you use to have
Will you honor my freedom, will you respect my religion
Will you still trust me if I made several bad decisions
Will you always tell me the truth when I need to hear it
And when you are talking to our father will you carry my spirit
Will you share your hopes, your money, your dreams, your fears, your family
Everything that belongs to you, will it belong to me
Are you willing to give up all the I- I- I's for we
Will you detach from mom and dad and cleave to me
And if the ball on my chain causes you to fall
And it starts to look like we have nothing at all
Then you take me around friends that don't seem to be impressed
Will you remember why you love me and still give me your best
If there ever comes a time when my past is resurrected
And my name is put to shame and you're feeling disrespected
Because the image you projected is challenged because of me
When love is embarrassing, will you be ready to leave
Or can you still love me unconditionally
If I show you I'm weak where you need me to be strong
If I say this is getting too hard for me to hold on
Is your love faithful enough to keep this thing going
And will you give me time and space so that I can keep growing
And if I make a mistake and open up another door
Is that something that you couldn't forgive me for
Forgiveness is a condition that may seem unfair
If you're feeling like the victim, so are you sure you're prepared
If I become mentally or physically ill
Will you say and pray until my mind and body is healed
Will you trust God for the things beyond your natural sight
Will you be proud of me even when I'm wrong and not just when I'm right
If the position calls for you to fall back and watch me lead
Are you humble enough to still love me unconditionally
Can you love me more than you love yourself
Or is selflessness a condition you cannot accept
Relationships can be so blissful but there are seasons of storms
That people enter into without being warned
About the conditions found in the atmosphere of
That place called unconditional love
So I need to know do you really want to go
Cause it can get heavy, make sure you ready
