Unconditional Love Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

Unconditional Love

i am the cross on your shoulders
i hold your feet before they step
i am carbon monoxide air
before you speak, you know i'm there
i am the thought before you smile
i am the hesitance in your laugh
i make the laws that bind you
i watch everything you do

you are nothing without me
you can't change the way things are
you aren't strong or brave like me
you're just a child, but still i'm scared

i steal the words out of your mouth
i am your moods that you can't have
i am the roll in restful sleep
i am the secret that you keep

you can cut to bleed me out
you can't make it stop
you're my equal, but you aren't
you're all that i am not

i will keep you here because you're gone
i am the love that keeps you alone
i am the silent noise of your despair
i follow you, i'm everywhere
i claim you cos you're free
don't worry about your soul
i tell the queen of sinners what to do
i adore this curse forever, you

you won't sleep or eat
you worry us

you are our blood
be just like us
