Under Construction Poem by Josephine Lauderdale

Under Construction

What do I see when I close my eyes?
What do I hear when I really listen?
What do I feel?

Do I know what I feel?
Or do I think it's what I see and hear

The road to my soul is still under construction
Sometimes I have to stop
And wait for a bridge to be built
Or a sign to be put up
Before I go on

Sometimes I have to wait for the asphalt to dry
And the trucks to move
Before i go on

But
I do go on
And on
And on
The journey to reach my soul
