Undone Poem by Laurence Overmire

Undone

That which he does best
He has no opportunity to do
Prospects barred in politics
Privileges of power
Beyond his control
Settling instead for
That which he CAN do
A secondary virtue
Not without merit
But fraught with the pain of
Knowing
Potentials never will be
Fulfilled
Expectations forever unmet
Disappointment always
In the unjust pursuit
Of happiness.
