Unequal Goal Poem by Babajide Aina

Unequal Goal

I do not regret sharing our compound and my compound to civilization
Globalization has is winner and loser
My dream of sharing my grandfather rich history is first hijack by colonization
Technology has a say in divulging the secret of my culture to my neighbor and the distance stranger
The approach of the men of colour have made my values and culture to be inferior
Hip hop has taken over juju and fuji, the praise and cognomen of my history are dying
My mother tongue is seen has native and their own international despite God has both origin
Is this creature curse or creator curse?
Even our young ladies pudenda are seen with naked eyes, a very honour of matriarchy
Um! I schooled with their language in my mouth in my father ‘compound, yet when am in their compound they accused me of having accent my very mark of history
Poverty and our elders' ignorance continue sending us an errand in to their compound
A blessing to their growth and family ‘shatteredness ‘for me
Where are my grandfather herbs? In their lab but my cousin and neighbor call it juju when the herbs directly in our hands.
It is not all their fault.
Amadiora, songo(God of thunder) , would have solved corruption in our continent long time ago
Only to allow there rules to judge our ways
There movies explain their culture but ours still propagate theirs
Tell them, Yoruba and Igbo movies are wholesome; invite them to your living rooms
Where are all these leading our kings and queens?
